Two brothers are thrust into a reality that makes them yearn for their years of deployment overseas. There were no news tickers or conspiracy theories to soften the sudden reality; the two soldiers witnessed the beginning of the end firsthand. Where would you go? Who would you save? This is the account of a small group of strangers who become family in order to somehow carry on against impossible odds.

Finally, there’s a zombie book that doesn’t have to rely on shock value and gore to elicit an emotional response. Between bouts of laughter and of tears, “And the Blood Ran Black” will have you forgetting to breathe while it unapologetically grabs you by the eyeballs.

And the Blood Ran Black eBook Nathan E Harvey

And the Blood Ran Black uses the same storyline formula as so many of today’s zombie genre books do. A group of humans are on the run from zombies that seem to have taken over the world. The difference with this book is that the writing is really good and the characters’ relationships are probably the strongest element of the whole story. The book opens with an action packed sequence that is worthy of any movie and it keeps the reading turning the pages. The main characters, John and Moto, are brothers who are soldiers fighting for the United States and stationed in Puerto Rico. The author gives a lengthy yet interesting explanation as to how and why the war with China got its start. It’s somewhat scary because, aside from the zombies, everything else could conceivably happen. The character development in this book is some of the best I have ever read. The core relationship, that of the two brothers, is realistic and, ultimately, heart-breaking. The author manages to make the reader feel what the characters are feeling, so near the end of the book I was sniffling just a bit. There are a lot of characters which, in some books, can be confusing but not in this one. They are slowly introduced and developed throughout. That is, if they survive long enough. There’s also some romance, about as much as can be expected when the characters are spending every second looking over their shoulder for zombies. The author infuses some humor into the story which helped to lighten the mood in a fairly dark book. The ending was surprising for me but left the story open for (hopefully) a sequel. The title of the book is what first drew my attention but the cover is quite eye catching as well. The digital version of the book formatted to my ereader very well and the editing was excellent. This is a typical zombie book that is well worth reading.

And the Blood Ran Black eBook Nathan E Harvey Reviews

This is a dystopian novel set in the future after the United States has been involved in World War III. Two brothers who also happen to be soldiers named John Chow and Moto, return from an overseas deployment in Puerto Rico to find their country to be a very different place in which they must do battle with zombies. The book is extraordinarily well written and paints the portrait of this future world very well. One need only to read the opening chapter in which John is involved in some kind of ultimate fighting event to see how viscerally Mr, Harvey describes events as the reader feels every ounce of the protagonist's pain and fury throughout his bout. Furthermore, the characters are exceptionally well- crafted, three dimensional people enduring understandable struggles even though their world is far different from the one that we occupy. Finally, the book reaches a gripping climax that leaves the reader satisfied.
In all honesty, I'm not one for zombie related or dystopian novels, but this one hooked me. If you like this genre, you will love this book. But, if you do not, you should be very impressed by the engaging storytelling and excellent writing that are the hallmarks of And The Blood Ran Black.
And the Blood Ran Black, by Nathen E. Harvey, is a typical and somewhat realistic zombie apocalypse story that is very well written and full of likable characters. The story follows John and Moto, who are American military members stationed in Puerto Rico during what is World War 3. The world is at war with the rising power that is China, and amongst the chaos of it all is a Zombie Apocalypse. It’s action packed from the start and keeps you on the edge of your seat through the very last chapter. The only thing that kept this from being a 5* review is that I was hoping for something different, some kind of twist to overdone zombie story.
The book is very well written and the plot/storyline are very will thought out. The characters are introduced in a way that the reader can feel like they are meeting this person in real life and getting to know them over time. You are able to connect with the characters as if they were real. They have enough back story that you fully understand them and can feel their emotions. I also feel that the title and the cover to the book were both intriguing and appealing for this genre. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that loves a good zombie apocalypse story, but would let you know that it’s a very well written version the overdone genre, the best of the genre that I’ve read so far.
And the Blood Ran Black by Nathan E Harvey is a dystopian novel that involves zombie. The story revolves around the life of John Chow and his brother, Moto. They are American soldiers that were stationed in Puerto Rico during World War 3 that occur due to power rising of China. I like it when the author writes enough back-story for the readers to understand what is happening in their ‘new world and where the zombie virus originates. The plot of this story is amazing, it is definitely an action packed, fast paced book. At times this book reminds me of The Walking Dead, but actually, it is more comparable to a new zombie movie, Train to Busan. The movie and this book certainly show us the times where humanity is threatened; whether you should save yourself or save a stranger just simply because he/she is still a human. As for the characterization, there is no antagonist in this book and that impresses me as the storyline is still interesting without the evil character. As for the brothers, John is probably my favorite even Moto is the funny and bubbly one. Both of them understand each other and they certainly look out for each other just as how brothers could be and I love it. I would recommend this book to any zombie fans out there and for anyone who would like to give zombie books a try as this book is really good.
